About Resilience Maldives

Resilience Maldives was established in November 2019 with the objective of restoring and researching marine ecosystems while strengthening environmental protection efforts across the Maldives. Initially operating through consultancy and project-based collaborations, the organisation steadily evolved into a community-driven initiative grounded in scientific research, public engagement, and policy-informed advocacy. In 2024, Resilience Maldives formally transitioned into a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), reinforcing its role as a research-led environmental protection and advocacy body dedicated to sustainable solutions, ecosystem conservation, and long-term resilience for future generations.

To support its international governance, partnerships, and operational continuity, Resilience Maldives Inc. is a Delaware non-stock corporation electing nonprofit status, duly incorporated under the laws of the State of Delaware, United States (Delaware State File Number 10510161). This legal structure enables the organisation to operate within a stable institutional framework while advancing its environmental mission through research, conservation initiatives, policy engagement, and collaborative action at both national and global levels. Today, Resilience Maldives works at the intersection of science, governance, and community engagement to protect fragile marine ecosystems, strengthen environmental accountability, and promote sustainable development pathways that safeguard natural heritage for present and future generations.

Our story

We were motivated by a simple but powerful idea: our oceans, reefs, and islands aren’t just beautiful,  they are our survival. Yet many environmental issues were being handled without enough long-term planning, data, or community involvement.

So in November 2019, we launched Resilience Maldives to restore and research marine ecosystems, and to work as an umbrella platform that could collaborate with other environmental projects and ventures. The goal was always bigger than one project , it was about building a network of people, research, and solutions that could create real change.

As the work grew, so did the responsibility. By 2024, Resilience Maldives transitioned into a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) so we could focus even more on environmental protection advocacy, research-driven initiatives, and community empowerment , helping shape a future where sustainability isn’t just a concept, but a lived practice.

What makes us different?

Resilience Maldives is different because we are not just an environmental organisation,  we’re a research-based action platform built from local reality.

We combine science, community participation, and practical solutions to address environmental problems in the Maldives, especially those affecting marine ecosystems and climate resilience.

While many groups focus on awareness or isolated projects, Resilience Maldives works as a connector and catalyst, bringing together specialists, communities, and partner ventures under one umbrella, turning environmental ideas into measurable, long-term impact.

Who we work with

At Resilience Maldives, our work is designed to reach people and organisations who care about protecting the environment , especially the marine ecosystems of island nations like the Maldives, and who are ready to take action based on research, evidence, and long-term impact.

We work with communities, youth, environmental specialists, NGOs, government bodies, and private-sector partners who share the belief that sustainability must be practical, measurable, and community-driven.

"Resilience is our strategy, legacy our reward. Endure, Adapt, Prevail."
